Text

The intellectual property of the main article and commentary text belongs to MortimerCat and is subject to copyright, with all rights reserved. A reviewer may use small sections for criticism or illustration. Otherwise, an author may not copy the articles into any other publication.

The work to transcribe the newspapers is subject to copyright. Technically, this means that the punctuation, spacing and interpretation of unclear copy belongs to MortimerCat. Direct copying of the transcripts is subject to all rights reserved copyright. To be clear, if you want to use a transcript in your work, you must create your own from the source.

Use of original newspaper articles.

It is worth noting the copyright restrictions MortimerCat abides by to create the transcripts. The limits apply to the article itself and not the image provided by an archive, which would also be subject to copyright restrictions.

Uncredited newspaper reports are subject to copyright for 70 years. MortimerCat may transcribe any article without a named author as long as it dates before 1955.

Similarly, copyright on attributed newspaper articles remains under copyright for 70 years after the author’s death. MortimerCat will avoid transcribing attributed pieces dated to the 20th century to comply with this restriction.
